VicUrban, a State Governments sustainable urban development agency, is transforming a vacant site in Coburg into a 200 high quality sustainably designed apartments using the Unitised Building System. This system involves each individual apartment being manufactured as a modular system off site, and it is then craned into place and put together in a lego-like fashion. This enables the building to be put up in record time compared to normal apartment projects. The construction will take place in June, and its completion is envisaged for the end of the year.
